Monika Pyrek is a successful Polish Pole-Vaulter who was born in 1980 in Gdynia.

In 2004 she competed in her first event at The Olympic Games, placing forth with 4.55 meters. She also won two Silver medal in The 2005 and 2009 World Championships in Athletics with a result of 4.65m. In The 2006 European Athletics Championships she claimed a Silver medal. Her personal best is 4.82 meters.

Pyrek has won several titles at a variety of Polish Championships, and for her sports achievements received the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (5^th class) in 2009.

Away from the sports track, Pyrek is a well known Polish figure. Winner of 2010’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’ she captivated the nation with her freestyle and foxtrot routines. She also showcased her musical skills by releasing a duet with famous Polish pop singer Maria Sadowska.

Monika Pyrek’s Journey to Success:
“My sporting career actually began on the Basketball courts, before the renovation of my primary school’s facilities led me to try my hand at Athletics. My talents at the high jump were clear and by the time I was a teenager my thoughts were focused on training and reaching my sporting goals.

“Throughout the years my family and friends have been hugely supportive, helping me to achieve in both my professional and personal life. To me, success must be defined on both these levels as all women have their own challenges to face and goals to achieve. I’ve always been committed to achieving greatness in my field and hope that my participation in The London 2012 Olympic Games will inspire other women to reach their potential.

“Long training days, busy schedules and demanding performances are the norm but through preparation and commitment I am always looking to improve and still relish the joy and fulfilment of making another good jump. Through my collaboration with Venus, I look forward to encouraging other women on their journey to success to reveal their beautiful goddess within.
